Flown Association of Space Explorers (ASE) patch, from the personal collection of Astronaut John Fabian (STS-7, STS-51G).

This patch was flown on the Mir Space Station, and bears the official octagonal "on-board Mir" handstamp on the reverse.  It comes from the personal collection of John Fabian.

Fabian is a Distinguished Member of the Association of Space Explorers (ASE), the third astronaut or cosmonaut to be so honored. The ASE's Distinguished Member award recognizes individuals who have significantly contributed to the mission, goals and objectives of the ASE.  Other conferees are Russian cosmonaut Alexei Leonov and Apollo astronaut Rusty Schweickart, both founding members of ASE. Fabian served for 14 years as the international Co-President of the ASE, and two years as the President of its U.S. chapter. He also co-hosted the VIII ASE Planetary Congress in Washington, D.C., and serves on the ASE-USA board of directors.

The patch comes with Fabian's original hand-signed COA, in which he states: "This Association of Space Explorers patch was flown on the Russian Space Station, Mir. On the back of the patch you will see where the Mir crew commemorated this event, using the official mission stamp. The patch is from my personal collection of memorabilia. John Fabian, NASA Astronaut, Retired, STS-7 and STS-51G."
