Stunning crew-signed ASTP beta cloth, archivally framed and double-matted. The beta cloth is a 5.5" square swatch with a 3.5" diameter color mission insignia in the center. Around the border are the bold signatures of all five participants in this milestone mission: U.S. Commander "Tom Stafford"; U.S. Command Module Pilot "Vance Brand"; Docking Module Pilot "Deke Slayton"; Soviet Commander "Alexey Leonov"; and Soviet Flight Engineer "Valeri Kubasov". ASTP was the last of America's Apollo flights and the first joint flight between the American and Soviet space programs.
All signatures are guaranteed to be hand-signed and dated to the period of the mission. The Slayton signature is slightly faded but still very legible, all others are bold and bright. The frame is high-quality gold aluminum and measures 9.25" x 9.25".
Identical crew-signed beta cloth mission insignia patches have sold at auction, and of note, all came from the collections of crew members and were identified as flown on the mission. This example, however, does NOT have any supporting documentation and must therefore be considered unflown. That said, it is a lovely example of a vintage crew-signed beta cloth mission insignia patch, perfectly framed and ready for display.
