Training-used Shuttle Flight Maps and Charts book from the collection of Jack Lousma, signed and certified on cover (and in accompanying COA).
This 8.5" x 11" ring-bound training manual was part of the STS-2 Flight Data File and consists of two amazing fold-out star maps, an orbit map, aeronautical charts for shuttle landing sites across the globe, as well as a world atlas! It consists of 100 double-sided black and white leaves (200pp).
This book comes directly from the personal collection of Jack Lousma and is certified on the cover, "This training checklist was used by me in late 1981. It is from my personal collection." The included Lousma COA provides additional details: "This checklist...was used during training for my STS-3 mission. Of note, Chapter 3-27 details landing site Northrup Strip at White Sands [NM], which eventually became our landing site on March 30, 1982. So, that training came in handy!"
Of note, Chart 3-18 (Rogers Dry Lake at Edwards AFB) contains several small pencil annotations by Lousma indicating direction of approach (see images). Other pages appear to be unannotated.
Comes with original Lousma COA, as well as photo of Lousma holding the signed book. Note that this item does not come with an Orbital Artifacts COA, since it is already certified by Lousma.
Your chance to own an amazing piece of early Shuttle history, used in training, and from the personal mission archives of a shuttle astronaut!
